I'll give you a list of my characters. Ask them questions, any questions, and they'll respond to you ICly. Ask as many as you want to any character that you want!
And poke me if you want one of my characters to go ask one of yours a question, if you have this meme up or put it up. Mingling is good!

I have more, but these are the ones I think I'd most easily brain for at the moment. You can ask IC with a muse of yours or OOC.
Also, anything know anything about library science programs in the UK?

The cost of school takes my breath away. For instance, if I wanted to take the University of Texas, Austin's Master of Science in Information Studies/Master of Arts (Women's and Gender Studies) (sounds interesting, don't it? Though I hate that gender studies tend to knee-jerk to feminist theory) and I were a Texas resident (which I'm very much not), I would be at least $20,000 out by the end of the 61-credit program.
On the other hand, I'm a damned good student, with a lovely school track record, and could probably get myself some scholarships. And I'm probably investing money that would pay for itself in getting me a better job (and some mental health).
On the other other hand, Texas is really not any closer to the UK.
On the other other other hand, I've drooled over some of UoT-A's library science programs on and off for years now.
Hm.
ETA: And, aw, fuck, I forgot all about the GRE. Another hoop to jump through. How long has it been since I did anything with maths?

For anyone interested, Ashlar's out again, this time in
dear_multiverse. He's asking the multiverse's residents who they work for.
I participated in LGBTQ Safe Zone training for my campus (George Mason University) yesterday—it's an all-day seminar that prepares any interested staff, faculty, and students to interact as mentors and support contacts for LGBTQ students. Granted, I won't meet many students in my job, but I felt that the more names on their list of ally contacts, the better.
I enjoyed the day; between reading a few books on sex and my shenanigans in roleplay and fandom, I knew most of the terms and etiquette that were discussed.
There was a hearing-impaired woman there, with a hearing dog; I've never watched sign interpreters at length, and there were a pair who switched off interpreting for her. One was a very expressive older man—his signing was very expressive and goofy and jokey, and he caught everything everyone said, even quietly. It was a lot of fun to watch.
Also, it had never occurred to me how similar all marginalized social groups are. They brought up the fact that some students approaching people may suffer from depression and suicidal ideation—and I hadn't thought about how similar people's response to suicidal ideation is to that of other "un-norms." The first response is to pack people off to be counseled, instead of accepting that maybe it's normal to have images of self-harm, sometimes, and that talking about it without judgment or the preconceived idea that the person is ill or in danger might help more than anything else. After all, different sexual orientations used to be considered mental illnesses. Not that thinking about self-harm is the same as thinking about same-sex attraction, but . . . there's this rejection of looking at any idea that's uncomfortable or beside what's seen as the norm.
I would like to be more involved in the GLBTQ community. I feel as though it would be more supportive, at least some sections of it, of exploration and deviation from the norm, and I like that idea, very much.
Also, I had a dream where someone asked me if I had a comm for Ashlar (
greatestmonster).
I've been wanting to do more with him in the past few days. Hrmm. *pokes Ashlar*
Metacrises are fun :3 What on-crack metacrisis would you like to see?

Character: Lu, my original Goth tarot reader character.
Words: 354
Prompt: Drabble from the Song Meme.
t_eyla requested Lu right after he got put in the hospital to recover from a bad suspension accident—one that left him with drug charges, too, because he was high as a kite when it happened. Good call, guy.
Lu lies in the white hospital bed, dressed in a white hospital gown, covered by white sheets, staring at a white ceiling, and closes his eyes against the white artificial, institutional light.
They won't let him have any of his own clothes, of course—not even any of his collection of dryer-beaten, decal-flaking comfortable old black death metal t-shirts. They've taken his ear project out and his rings have gone somewhere (Mom says she has them, they'll be fine, but he's half-afraid she'll "misplace" them, now that she has the chance) and he's just fucking glad they couldn't somehow take his tattoo, because he swears they would have managed it if they could.
The flowers on the tables loom at him in bright colors, and the food comes in bright colors (jello—pink and green and orange and soda to match—pink ginger ale and Sprite and Crush), and the nurses come in bright colors, in their cheerful scrubs, and someone's left him a stuffed toy, and it's white, too—a harp seal. There is nothing in the world quite so cute as a fucking baby harp seal, but he wants to hate it, because it's white, and white just isn't him.
He wants his clothes, and his black, and Spinal Tap or Alien, uncensored, or The Phantom Menace on the television, and he wants his back to stop hurting and the hospital and convalescence and impending court dates and drug charges and medical insurance to go vanish in a flash of (please gods not white) light and leave him alone.
The seal looks at him with brown button eyes, and he glares at it.
Fucking cute white baby harp seal. Fuck you.
He reaches out to the bedside table and smacks it over the head with a fist, before grabbing it, holding it against his chest and curling around it in a lonely, angry hug.
Its name is Shi, and it is the avenging Shinto spirit of harp seal baby death, haunting him for the crimes of an Arctic-going ancestor, and . . .
And he would really like to go home now.
Back to his black.

A very abbreviated version of the song meme going 'round:
Sickest Girl - Bertine Zetlitz.
Give me the character/pairing and scenario that come to mind when listening to this, and I'll write something to it. It can be a new character (Lucy/Ten!metacrisis?) or a scenario that's not specific to a fandom, or something I already write. Anything! Go for it B|

Someone needs to bring either a) Sam Tyler, b) a canon Master, or c) a Ten by this thread. Three Simm!Master!metacrises at once >_>
. . . A Martha might also headdesk at it.

And I don't think posting my first slash fic right as Waters of Mars aired was the best idea. Oops. No posting fiction on the same days as the finales, self. Remember that.

My first D/M fic, as well as my first explicit fic. And by explicit, I do mean fairly graphic. Surprisingly, it doesn't feel graphic when you write graphic, quite, I have just discovered. It feels like writing anything else. If you're on my flist and want to avoid graphic fangirl slash, I would avoid this post.

So, it's Friday, and I feel flat and as though I haven't accomplished much (my basic state), and I'm looking for discussion to spark my mind back to Interested mode.
What's the tensest moment between two characters you've read or RPed? The tension can be sexual, emotional, physical—any moment where the connection between the two characters was everything that mattered and the two of them stood right on the edge of choice. Is that a state you like to find, in writing or RP?
(And, hey, if it's something you've read [including published material], slap up a link?)
Is there anything you wish you could write but haven't worked your way up to doing yet? For me, it tends to be "dark" things—explicit sex or wounds/torture—as well as being able to feel like I'm legitimate in writing male characters as a woman (without creating, essentially, "mythical" men, unrelated to real men) and to feel like I can write female characters without using them as vehicles for wish fulfillment (i.e., writing what is essentially a female "male" hero/villain—selfish, decisive, charismatic, casually sexual but not defined by sexuality, a wounded loner with a Past).
Yours might be as simple as "I want to write a scene on a yacht, but I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT YACHTS."
And if you have a link to a great example of what you wish you could write, post that?

Hey,
t_eyla has a thoughtful post up on her thoughts on Veterans/Remembrance Day. I'm putting in my two cents, and think it could lead to some interesting discussion.
It's That Time of the Month. The time when I start being uninterested in and frustrated by everything and mope around deciding my life is stagnant and my personality uninteresting and I am Just Like My Parents and will never find Personal Satisfaction or True Love. Or ever manage to write an explicit sex scene or a female character (yes, these are both goals of mine). The time of month when I read articles on mental disorders and go THEY ARE ALL ME. Woe.
In conclusion, hello, internet. INTERACT WIT' ME. Link me to some really good piece of online fiction or give me a pairing/character (even ones I don't RP) prompt (and maybe a word limit. That could be interesting).
ETA: Or! There's always ye olde ask my characters a question. Here's the list. Or suggest a situation in which the Master (canon, human, metacrisis, I have a selection >_>) does something sadistic and EVIL. Or even a word. And I will try to come up with something. I love Master!crazy :3
